Love Hate

By the looks of the comments for my first post, there are some very stong opinions about Senator Roberts. Either you love him or hate him.

I'll be breaking-down the Roberts tenure in my next post. Until then, does anyone have a rational reason why Roberts will or will not be elected again?

Roberts is the safest of all Republican Senators up for reelect in two years because of his huge war chest. He doesn't need money- only other Republicans to get elected in both the Senate and House.

Did you get turned down for an internship by Roberts office or something?

No current member of the Kansas congressional delegation has done more for the agricultural (and thereby everything else) interests of Kansas than Roberts.

Brownback is jealous of him, Thiart respects him, Moran lusts after his seat.

W and Rove pay Sam lip service, but they know Roberts is their Kansas go to man in the Senate.

It sounds like the second poster works for Roberts and is trying, rather poorly, to defend his or her employer.

For the record, I don't work on the Hill. But from what I remember, Roberts doesn't like Brownback because Brownback was elected to the senatorial seat to which Roberts believed he was the heir apparent.

I don't know that I would say Thiart respects Roberts, but tolerates is probably a better verb to describe the relationship.

I think your characterization of Moran is probably out of bounds as well.

And I think W and Rove probably know what everyone knows and that is Roberts is, well, pretty much a lapdog.
